1) Force my sister to take a mini-road trip to Malibu to go eat at Neptunes Net, I will kick, scream and shout if she says no.

2) Go to Joann's (Although I have yet to see one out here) or a Craft/Jewelry store to pick up a few things and get to doing a little bit of creating for the hell of it.

3) Die my hair, either back to Black (but JET BLACK this time), Red or Blonde <-- I'm taking suggestions btw, I need help deciding.

4) Bake some cupcakes from scratch from my sisters Cupcake cookbook

5) uhh thats all I can think of, If all goes as planned it should be a wonderful weekend =)

42 fucking percent!!!!!? *sigh.I just wrote a paper on this not too long ago…Sometimes it bothers me that they always only associate Black women with Black men, however, yea more often then not Black women are paired with Black men, its always like a nice surprise or its like “Oh, thats unusual..smh(scratching my head)?” to nice a Black women with a non Black man because its like unexpected. Plus you know these days Black men LOVE them some “mixed women” lol. Nothing wrong with that but I do think that Black men have a strange asphyxiation and obsession with race more so then any other race of men (from my own observations) which I think makes its a little harder on the “regular” Black girl. Guys often tend to assume that I am half white or something, but I really just consider myself Black, my fathers mother was White but paired with my mom I’m more then 75% Black so I consider myself just Black. When I tell guys that, sometimes I can tell that the interest kinda dies down just a little bit, had I had told them I”m puerto rican, black, white, native, african and some more shit, there would have been some kind of excitement. Idk I’m kinda going off on a tangent, but as we all know there are SO many negative stereotypes about Black women, you gotta prove people wrong before people/men think positively or non-stereotypical about us, and of course this isn’t all men and it isn’t just black men, but those are just my thoughts.

This totally makes me think of my friend Aisha, she spent her summer in Senegal working with kids, I think she also helped build a hospital? I think not sure though. Anyhow, I totally want to see this. I've always had this inclination that aside from my professional career that I wanted to do something, something that mattered. My father worked with inner-city kids so I grew up being involved in a lot of non-profit organizations working with kids and teenagers through my father. He has always drilled in my head that at some point of my life I need to give back somehow, I don't know if I want to necessarily do something in Africa, not at first atleast but I want to work with pre-teens and teenagers whether it be mentoring or having some kind of program of my own that I want to be directly involved in, not just have my name attached to it. Idk, just thoughts.

I've been doing a lot of thinking lately, and I've come to the conclusion that no one was born beautiful. When I say this I mean, you weren't born with the idea that you were beautiful, you waited for affirmation from someone else to confirm your own personal ideas of your physical appearance. I believe that you can take the most beautiful person in the world and if you never told them they were beautiful, they wouldn't believe it. You even have people who went so long, longing to hear those words but took too long to come, so they have trouble believing they're beautiful even when they're told so. There are so many people who try to tear down those who they don't see fit to their standard of beauty, who can't stand to hear or see a big girl, a skinny girl, a light skin girl a dark skin girl tell themselves or others that they are beautiful. It bothers them so much that they feel the need/entitlement to denounce those thoughts. Now trust me, I'm not perfect, of course I've said things about other people's appearance to my friends, but I'm not the type to make sure my views are seen and heard. It's very true that some of the prettiest people do the ugliest things. They feel as if they have this entitlement, which in part is true, because people leave a larger margin of error for those that people hold to a high standard of beauty. I'm kind of straying away from my original rant, but one thing that bothers me is this sense of entitlement to things, particularly for girls and men, a "pretty girl" is no more entitled to a good looking man than a girl who is less "attractive." It is not your place to question, "whats he doing with her?" The very reason you find it necessary to ask that question, is probably the same reason as to why, he's not with you. I'm just sayin. I totally went off track with where I was originally going but whatever, take it or leave it.

A current annoyance of mine lately has been this constant remark "You're rich..." No, I am not rich by any means I just have a job, which a lot of people my age don't have have right now. Yes, I do make $10 an hour, which is great pay, especially for my first job. I'm gonna let you in on something, growing up I didn't have much. I wasn't necessarily poor but I had parents who had priorities and recognized those priorities. My parents own their own home, bought it brand new, in fact had it built the way they wanted (you know those big house developments) remember I'm from Washington so the cost of living is way less than California. My mother sells appliances at Sears and my father used to work with kids for 4-H for like 20 years and now is a truck driver. Almost all of my fathers income goes to paying bills, my father works day in and day out, before we moved my father used to janitor business buildings with my brother at night AFTER his regular job AND still does landscaping (not just mowing the lawns but LANDSCAPING) in the spring and summer so during those times he works almost 7 days a week and mind you he is 54. He also works a lot of over time. Growing up most of my clothes came from thriftstores and I've had food from the food bank, and I'm not ashamed to say that either, my parents did the best they could and accomplished their own dreams of owning their own home. I never had the new jordans, or any shoes for that matter that came out because my parents couldn't afford it and I understood that, my parents provided me with everything I ever NEEDED so I never asked for anything more. Both my parents NEVER did anything for themselves, everything that they did was to provide for me, my brothers and sisters. For whatever reason people tend to assume that I come from a spoiled background which is no where near the truth. I've watched my parents struggle, miss bills at times but I appreciate EVERYTHING that they've ever done for me, I just hope one day I can be in a position for them to never have to worry about shit like bills. Of course there were those times that I would look at all those kids who wanted things I knew I couldn't have, but then I had to remember that I didn't need those things, I had my family. I appreciate the work ethic that my father demonstrated for me, my dad always knew how to hustle and make things happen when his day job wasn't going to be enough. Coming from this, makes me humble, so NO, I'm not rich, in fact I'm just now getting used to actually having money in my hands.

It was super sunny, but freezing balls in California; it's all good though I'm from Washington so I can tough it out. In March I will have been single for a whole 2 YEARS! When I say single, I mean 100% single, I haven't "talked" to anyone or anything. In between that time I will say that I did fuck up here and there and I fully acknowledge that. However, I am realizing that although it would be nice, to have a nice boy to confide in, be friends with, be my companion, I'm just not ready or willing to take a chance on nobody right now. I don't have trust issues or anything, I'll give you my trust and what you do with it is up to you, it's just I'm pretty much at the point where I don't really care to have someone in that sense, and no, I don't feel like putting energy and time into nobody but myself really, yea for once I'm being selfish I guess you could say. I'm putting boys on a short leash with me right now, these days its kind of hard to tell whose friend & whose foe, for now I'm proceeding with caution. And I need to start taking my own fucking advice too, I could have avoided some situations and things if I had only listened to my own intuition; there is nothing worse than having the answers to the questions but answering differently just because, the answer will just about ALWAYS be wrong. remember that.

oh yea sidenote- It's okay to be and feel lonely every now and then people, remember you have to learn to be alone/by yourself before you can learn to be with someone else.

It's winter time, the supposed "choosin' season", I don't know if this is just me, but I don't really think thats really true these days. I was talking to a friend the other day about friends that we knew in relationships, between the two of us we could only think of about 2 or 3. What I'm seeing in both young and older people is the decline of dating. I could be trippin' but as time progresses sex is becoming more and more casual (in my eyes). Not only just the act of sex but sex in general, its in commercials, television shows (regular cable!) music everryywhere! I know you guys had to have seen that D&G commercial with the girl basically having a 3some, train w/e u wanna call it with the two guys? Yea stuff like that. Anywho, with the growing popularity of social networking sites, like I've said before...it's a gateway to more and more people so there is always someone new, I've never really been a fan of meeting people off the computer but there are plenty of people that I know of that also know of me but we do not know eachother but know of eachother via the internet, which makes the world sooo much smaller as if it wasn't already. This makes it harder to meet new people sometimes...I mean I never really been into the dating circuit, I've only ever had one boyfriend and I've only ever "talked" to 2, one being my ex and the other in like 9th grade so it doesn't even really count lol. Sometimes just as everyone else does you get in the mood where it would be nice to have someone but just thinking of the process damn near gives me a headache. It's not hard for me to keep focus in one person at all but it seems more and more people (boys and girls alike) have ADD or some shit. I dont know though, might just be me...

When the wave conditions are right a wave appears, infrequently, as a result of the splash back off the cliff connecting with an incoming wave. The Darvaza natural gas crater is located in the center of the Karakum Desert in the central Asian country of Turkmenistan. The crater resulted after a Soviet natural gas exploration accident in the 1950s and has been burning ever since. While visiting Kruger National Park with my son, we came across two male hippos battling for dominance as we crossed a bridge over the Sabie River. The bellowing from the animals as they fought their bloody battle was incredible. They first fought in the shallows near the bank and then moved into the deeper part of the river. On my second day visiting the astounding Iguazu falls on the Brazilian side I was forced to change to my telephoto lens as my wide angle had been damaged by the water vapour. In had rained solid for 10 days prior to my arrival and so the falls were at their most spectacular. A stone's-eye-view of two tracks made by the sailing stones of Death Valley's Racetrack playa. The dried clay surface has a beautiful texture, and there is a palpable aura of mystery over the entire three-square-mile playa. The Racetrack was not entirely free of human influence though: several weeks before this taken many of the stones were stolen, leaving long trails without a traveler at the end. On the final leg of a six-week United States of America road trip, I was driving east across Interstate 40 when a spot storm with golf ball-sized hail struck. A sign near Groom, Texas, announcing the "largest cross in the western hemisphere" explained the large crucifix I’d been wondering about for miles on the highway; it seemed like an OK place to wait out the storm. On my way to getting stuck in the mud and a giant double rainbow, I saw this silhouetted view of the cross, splitting the sunny sky from the stormy plains. (Photo and caption by Brad Maule)

Nazroo, a mahout (elephant driver), poses for a portrait while taking his elephant, Rajan, out for a swim in front of Radha Nagar Beach in Havelock, Andaman Islands. Rajan is one of the few elephants in Havelock that can swim, so when he is not dragging timber in the forest he is used as a tourist attraction. The relationship between the mahout and his elephant usually lasts for their entire lives, creating an extremely strong tie between the animal and the human being.
